Penelope nodded, "Yes, a white owl. I love her dearly, actually she was a gift from Daisy, my family's house elf, when I first started at Hogwarts." she replied.
Penelope had tried several times to give Daisy different types of clothing in order to free her from her duty but Daisy refused each time saying that she must stay at the house to look after Penelope.
Penelope loved Daisy just as she would a close friend or a family member. However, her father hated the fact that Penelope was close to the house elf.
Pen pushed the thoughts away and smiled up at Kain as they finally reached the West Tower "What about you Kain? Any pets?"

"Ah, that's lovely." Kain spoke, when Penelope mentioned her house elf gave the owl to her. It was refreshing to see that Penelope's house elf cared about her so much, she gave the human a gift of such value.
"No, No pets." Kain sighed, and they walked up the spiral stairs to the top of the tower. They walked carefully, since the rain had made the stairs slightly slippery.
"I used to have an owl,..." He added, and gave a weak smile. "....but it was killed." He frowned and opened the door, and took a deep breath of the outside air before walking into the owl infested room. The site of many owls was remarkable, and Kain had never really been up here before. It was swarming with life, the soft flutters of owls wings were bracing the walls with its sound. Kain smiled, and looked for a white owl.

Penelope frowned when Kain mentioned that his owl was killed, "I'm sorry for bringing it up." she said quietly.
After they climbed the wet stairs carefully and reached the tower, Penelope looked around. She had always loved the view from up here. In fact, she would often come up here just to be alone. She liked thinking of it as her secret place.
"I love it up here, the view is amazing, and the owls make it so lively.. don't you think?" She asked Kain. She too looked for a white owl, but she didn't have to look long because as soon as she and Kain got into the center of the huge tower room, a white owl flew at Penelope and landed on the railing right in front of her. It stared at her with its bright yellow eyes.
"Hello Snow," Penelope coo'ed at the owl. Penelope reached out and patted the beautiful owl's head lightly, Snow closed her eyes, enjoying the contact. Penelope pulled her hand back, and as soon as she did, Snow opened her eyes once more, this time looking directly at Kain, almost as if expecting him to pet her as well.
This made Penelope laugh, "I'm sorry, it seems that Snow is quite demanding."

"Don't worry about it." Kain smiled at her, not wanting Penelope to think she was bringing up painful memories. Truth be told, he had so many, the owl incident was mild.
Kain was still just busy staring at the owls with gentle eyes, when Penelope asked him if he liked it. "Yes, it's very nice, I ashamed to say that I've never been up here." He admitted and chuckled alittle. He turned his glance back at Penelope, and saw the white owl had landed in front of her, and was now staring at him. He looked at Penelope, utterly confused. Truth was, he hadn't had a pet in such a long time, he didn't know what to do. "Um.." He started, and walked timidly towards Snow. He didn't want to disrupt her, for Snow looked content just staring at Kain. Kain pet the animal as softly as possible, and drew his hand back quickly. "Sorry, I don't want to hurt her." He smiled, and backed up slightly.

Penelope forced back a giggle, she could tell that Kain was slightly uncomfortable. "Its fine, I'm sure Snow understands." Penelope replied. As if to agree, Snow let out a soft noise and then flew off to where ever she had flown from.
Penelope watched as Snow disappeared among the other owls and then she turned back to Kain, "Really? You haven't been here? Harry Potter was actually the first one to bring me up here. I'm not really sure why though. It didn't matter really, because as soon as I saw the view, I fell in love. Not to mention this is probably the most peaceful place in the whole castle." Penelope sighed.
Fred and George came flying up the stairs, their faces matching their hair. They were laughing so much that they were both holding their sides. Penelope's eyebrows raised, waiting for them to say what was so funny.
A few moments later, after catching their breath, Fred spoke, "You've got to see it.." he began.
"Someone turned Umbridge into a toad." George informed.
"She's in the hospital wing now, but nothing Madam Pomfrey tries," Fred began, "Will change her back," George finished.
Penelope turned to look at Kain, "Shall we go look?" she asked. She really liked the idea of Umbridge being turned into an actual toad.

"I'm glad she understands." Kain said, and peered down at Snow with utmost respect. He was always in awe of the abilities that Owls possessed.
"No, never." Kain was also suprised that he had never been up here. I was a shame, actually. Of course, Kain had his own favorite place in the castle, and this wasn't it. But, now, it seemed like it was possible that it could be.
Kain's thoughts were inturrupted by Fred and George's voices ringing through the West Tower. Kain turned around slowly, and saw their faces were bright red. He knew Illyanna still had a crush on Fred, so he tolerated the twins. He had to force his jaw not to drop when the red-headed Gryffindors said that Umbridge was currently a toad. He smiled, showing off his pearly whites, and nodded, speechless at Penelope.
"Yes, Lets go." He laughed, and the four ran towards the hospital wing.
