Morning.
Snape waited impatiently for his students to file in. He was still dreadfully tired, and slightly upset that he wasted such a summer by hanging out with the order of the Phoenix. One day, He'll go somewhere nice, he promised himself. Looking at all of his students, which were sitting quietly for him to begin, Snape couldn't help but notice the new girl. After all, it wasn't often that his class had a girl with red hair. He saw Penelope Delani, one of his best students, even if she hated the class. He saw Harry Potter, whom he disliked incredibly, and saw Ron and Hermione sitting near him as well. He watched Kain and Draco walk in late, laughing as if they had just been told a great joke, and sit lazily in the back. Nodding at them, Snape began to talk. "Welcome class," He said in his usual monotone voice. "to potions." Oh how he dreaded this. He still wanted badly the job of the DADA teacher, yet, Dumbledore never allowed him to. "Now, last year we ended with the Draught of Peace. Does anyone remember what that does, again?" He asked, and peered snidely across the room.

Penelope showed Alice around the school and finally into Potions class, they entered right behind Harry, Ron, and Hermione. Penelope took her usual seat near the front and motioned for Alice to sit beside her. Penelope was sure that she and Alice would be good friends. Looking one of her favorite teachers, she couldn't help but think about what Alice had said about his hair. She covered her mouth and giggled. It was true, Professor Snape's hair was a bit oily but she thought it fit him perfectly. Honestly she wouldn't have him any other way. She knew that he hated teaching potions and she also knew that he really wanted to teach DADA more than anything. Penelope thought he would be probably the best DADA teacher that they've ever had, but she wasn't sure if he'd ever get the chance.
Penelope heard laughter and turned to see Draco and Kain walk into the class. She was happily surprised to see that they had this class as well. She knew this would be an interesting year to mix them with the golden trio.
"Now, last year we ended with the Draught of Peace. Does anyone remember what that does, again?" Professor Snape had asked the class.
Penelope did remember that potion. She tried it herself once over the summer to make sure that she could do it during one of her father's important meetings because they could be very trying on her. Thanks to that attempt, she also knew what overdoing the potion could cause as well. Her father still refuses to forgive her for falling asleep during his important speech.
She waited a few moments.. well perhaps a couple of seconds before raising her hand to answer the question. She wanted to let Professor Snape know that she knew the answer, but she hoped that someone else would also raise their hand to answer to keep her from seeming like a know it all.

Kain sat in the back of the room, lounging. This was the easiest class, and since Snape adored both him and Draco, they could slack off all they wanted. When Snape asked his question, Kain yawned. He didn't care.
Honestly.
He saw Penelope, sitting with Alice, and smiled lightly. It was good that they were in his class, atleast if Snape paired him with a gryffindor, he could choose one of those two. Kain saw Penelope's hand go up timidly, and saw her looking around. Oh goodness.
He lazily raised his hand, and she must've saw, and when she turned around, Snape peered over at him. Kain knew he was going to call on him, but he didn't want him to. Moving his head towards Penelope, as if to say, "Call on her, not me," he saw Snape's glance turn towards Penelope.
Making people happy. All in a days work, for Kain Winters. He thought to him self, bouncing happily.
He scanned the room, and saw Neville and Hermione sitting together, along with Harry and Ron in front of them. Illyanna wasn't in this class, because they usually mixed Hufflepuffs with Ravenclaws, and Slytherin's with Gryffindors. Of course, that schedule varies occasionally. He saw Alice smiling, and was happy that she seemed to be enjoying her first days at Hogwarts. Wherever she went before, obviously wasn't very nice. And, he was suprised at how attatched she was to Penelope. Those two were probably best friends by now, and Kain was slightly suprised.
Sure, he didn't know either of them incredibly well, but he didn't expect the two of them to connect so easily. It sort of made him happy to know that there were still friendships like that around Hogwarts.

Alice had been showed around the school that morning, afterwards Penelope showed her the way to potions. Once they enterred the room Penelope took her usual seet aand ushered Alice over. Harry and three others were sitting in the desk behind Alice and Penelope, the whole class was a mix off gryffindors and Slytherins, she wondered slightly were the other two houses were but she quickly came to the conclusion that they would be mixed together as well in a different class.
She heard an impatient cough from the front of the classroom and there stood proffesor Snape he seemed very gloomy not very social, but to be honest he also looked rather pained she pondered what was wrong to make him this way.. poor thing... She watched him scow across the room, Alice saw his eyes dart around for and for a moment he stared at her hair, Alice decided to turn the cherry red part a bright blue for a split second just to see his reaction she loved doing that, she then saw him pass a death glare to Harry and his friends which had confirmed Harry's earlier statement about Snape hating him.
Strange.
Thought Alice, suddenly the door banged shut, two late commers, if Snape was as mean as he had been made out to be surely there would be an example of it now. Alice looked around. Kain and Draco walked in laughing at some unknown joke, They sat down at the back and Snape brushed of there presence as if they had arived at the correct time like every one else.
Figures thought Alice they were in Snapes house Slytherin so of course they weren't going to get into trouble, she wondered what would have happened if the scenario had been different and if it was a Gryffindor tht walked in late, they would have been for it she betted.
Alice heard Proffesor Snape clear his throat. He asked the class what the draught of Peace did, obviously continuing from last years work..
Alice thought deeply Draught of peace she was sure that WADA had covered that before hmm..... Penelope's hand shot up beside her shyly Penelope looked slightly caustious about anwsering. Alice quickly peered across the classroom Kain had also put his hand up and Snape looked like he ws going to let him anwser until he motioned towards Penelope. Snape turned to Penelope half heartedly waiting for her to give the anwser

Penelope forced herself to sit up straighter so that her voice would carry and she wouldn't seem as timid as others thought she was.
"Draught of Peace helps relieve anxiety and agitation," she answered shortly. She had known that Kain figured out that she didn't want to seem like a know it all and had raised his hand.
She turned slightly to face him and mouthed a "thank you" before turning back around. Not before she caught the look that Harry Potter had given her when he noticed that she had thanked Kain.

Alice gave a small congratualting smile to Penelope. Alice was just glad she wasn't being called on to anwser.
She saw Penelope give a small smile of thanks to Kain, and Harry gave Penelope a frown and questioning look, Alice just rolled her eyes, and wondered why Kain and Harry didn't get along, surely it couldn't just be because of the different houses.
Alice listened intently to Proffesor Snape as he was now explaining the lesson

"Correct Miss. Delani," He said, and peered around the room, his eyes focusing on the new girl. "Ah, so I see we have a new student. Introduce yourself please." He said, realizing that she was uncomfortable with his request. After all, she seemed to be the shy type.
After she introduced herself as Alice, Snape turned his attention back to the lesson. "Now, the draught of peace puts you in a calming mood, so what would the Draught of," He paused, thinking of a potion. "The Draught of The Living Dead, Do?" He asked, knowing that the two had nothing to go together with. They just had similar names, and were easy for the first real day back. Looking over at Potter, he saw a glint in the boy's eyes, as if he were imagining his parents coming back to life. "And No, you may not use this potion to bring back people who have been dead for more than a couple of hours." He said, seeing the glint fade quickly from Harry's eyes.
It was unreasonable to dream that way.

Alice smiled at her friend as Penelope got the question right.
Proffesor Snape peered across the room, his eys coming to a stop on Alice.
please don't make me introduce myself, please don't make me introduce myself... she begged silently.
"Introduce yourself" he had said.
Crap, thought Alice.
She slowly stood up she wasn't exactly nervous she was just uncomfortable.. She sighed giving a soft small to the class.
"Hello" she said Politely to the class "I'm Alice Sefaline, i'm a transfer from WADA, I'm a metamorphamgus, which means I can willingly change my appearance for you guys that didn't know" she said Kindly, quickly changing her hair to a bright orange and then back to its original colour
Alice had suprised herself hehe she wasn't even shy, she congratualted herself mentally while listening to Proffesor Snape.
Draft of the living dead Alice was sure it was something to do with putting some one in a deep sleep but she wasn't sure hmm...
She opened her potions book scanning it quickly for anwsers

Penelope nodded at her professor, and gave a quick smile.
After Alice sat back down from introducing herself to the class, Penelope squeezed her hand softly. "That is really awesome!" She whispered to Alice, regarding how Alice was able to change her hair color.
"What would the Draught of the Living Dead do?" Professor Snape asked. Penelope only slightly remembered hearing something about this, but didn't really recall what it was for. She began to thumb through her book to recall her memory but stopped when Professor Snape said, "And No, you may not use this potion to bring back people who have been dead for more than a couple of hours."
She didn't need to be psychic to know that Professor Snape was talking to Harry mainly. She turned slightly in her chair to look back at Harry quickly. A slight frown creased her eyebrows. She quickly turned back around to face the front before Professor Snape could yell at her for not paying attention. She waited silently for someone to answer his question, hoping that he wouldn't call on her to answer it.

Kain knew this potion by heart, and actually thought about answering it. He looked at Draco, who was falling asleep.
Goodness, that boy always slept.
Well, that was true, but actually since Kain had roomed with Draco for the past years, he knew very well that Draco had a hard time sleeping, and often woke up in the middle of the night to read or just lie in bed. It was slightly miserable, actually. Plus, he woke Kain up, with his lumos charm, since he said it loudly. That occurance had happened so many times before.
Seeing Snape look around the room for a student to raise his hand, his view scanned over the sleeping Draco, mindlessly. Kain saw Alice was looking for the answer, and let his hand stay down by his side, lazily.
Getting bored, Kain turned to his best friend, and poked him, startling the boy awake. Blowing a kiss at Draco, Kain winked, and Draco grumbled.
Oh what fun.
Kain did this every morning, since Draco hated it so much.
Kain heard Snape's comment about the Draught of the Living Dead towards Harry, and smiled triumphantly. It was a happy day when Harry's dreams were crushed, Kain believed.

Alice squeezed Pens hand back. "thanks" she whispered "Its a pain sometimes though" she finnished
Poor Harry thought Alice after Snape made the comment about his parents.
She sighed and trying to recall her memory
Draught of the living dead hmm..
She was positive it was putting some one into a deep sleeping beauty like sleep but after Proffesor Snape said about bringing people back after a few hours she wasn't sure. Alice gave up deciding to let some one else take the anwser, today she was going to observe as silly as that sounded, just to get to know what the teachers nature was like and what she should be ready for next lesson. Of course that didn't mean she wouldn't take part if they did a practical lesson today, making potions was fun

Penelope was surprised that Hermione wasn't raising her hand to answer the questions since she was known as the "know it all". Since no one else had answered the question, and she had a good idea of what it may be, she raised her hand and waited to be called on.
When Professor Snape called on her to answer the question, she replied in an almost questioning manner. "Draught of Living Death is used to put the drinker into a deep sleep that makes them look dead, right?"
While waiting for a response from the Professor, she let her fingers travel up to the necklace around her neck. She ran her fingers across the pendant nervously.

Alice could tell her friend was nervous. Snape did seem really unfriendly but Alice thought it must be a front, he couldn't be that nasty, nobody was completly evil. Every one had some good in them even if it was the tiniest, smallest touch of good, it was still light and it was still there, even if that goodness was only shown once.
She gave her friend a warm encouraging smile, she was sure Penelope had given the right anwser so Snape couldn't complain. Every one else in the room seemed to be dead to the world Penelope was the only one really trying. Alice couldn't talk though all she was doing was making notes.

Penelope returned Alice's smile and shrugged her shoulders lightly. She didn't know whether she gave the right answer or not, but atleast she was trying.. right? She knew that Snape wouldn't be horribly mean to her if she got the wrong answer. After all, she really did enjoy being in Snape's class.. though she wished that he taught something besides Potions.
After Penelope had given her answer, a loud bang came from the back of the room, causing Penelope to jump.

Alice jumped slightly not as much as pen whom she gave a friendly snigger at when she heard the bang she turned her head to the direction of the noise, and looked in puzzlement
